North Island
The North Island has lovely green rolling hills and some wonderful beaches and coastal rock formations. It's where the sulfurous hot springs and geysers of Rotorua are as well as the stunning stone wonders of Cathedral Cove. And, of course, it's where you find the cozy little village of Hobbiton. Be sure to stop in for an ale at the Green Dragon!

SOUTH Island
Originally named by the Maori "Te-Waka-a-Maui," or the Canoe of Maui, the South Island has a very different look from the North. Volcanic fjords, mountains, and natural wonders to inspire awe in anyone's heart. This is the home of the Milford Track, one of the most gorgeous hikes I've ever undertaken. It is also the home of Queenstown, probably my favorite town on the planet. Stunningly beautiful and full of amazing and kind people.
